Free background noise remover

Remove background noise from your recording

Clean the fan, traffic, keyboard, hum and room noise out from under your voice. Drop in a webcam video, a screen recording, a podcast or a voice memo, hear it with the noise gone, and save it as the same kind of file. It runs in your browser, so your recording is never uploaded.

Record with clean sound from the start

The Cursorful editor removes the noise from your microphone as you edit, with the same noise remover, and adds zooms that follow your cursor, webcam layouts and captions to your screen recordings.

A clearer voice, the same video

Only the sound is cleaned. The picture is copied into the new file exactly as it was recorded, never re-encoded, so your webcam or screen recording keeps all of its quality, a transparent background too, and the export is quick. A video comes back in its own format where your browser can write it (MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV or TS), or as an MP4 or MKV. A sound file comes back as a WAV, M4A, OGG, WebM, MKA or AAC; an MP3 comes back as an M4A, and a lossless FLAC as a WAV. The main picture and sound tracks are the ones kept: other tracks and subtitles are left out.

Fans, traffic, keyboards and hum

It removes the steady and the changing noise around a voice: a fan or an air conditioner, traffic and street noise, a keyboard, the chatter of a busy room, and the mains hum of a microphone or a cable. It keeps every voice it hears clearly, so someone talking near your microphone stays in the recording.

Listen before you save

Play your recording and switch between Noise removed and Original as it plays to hear exactly what goes. Nothing is saved until you export, and the saved file always has the noise removed.

Made for speech

It keeps a speaking voice and removes everything else: music, the sound of a game or a video in a screen recording, and a podcast’s jingle count as noise and go too. Whispered speech sounds like noise to it, and some of it goes with the noise. For those, listen before you save.

Private by design: it runs on your device

The noise remover is DeepFilterNet 3, a speech enhancement model that runs in your browser through WebAssembly, on the stream of your sound as it plays. Nothing is sent to a server: your recording is read from your disk and the export is written back to it. It works in Chrome and Edge on a computer.
